Courtney Love Fighting Townhouse Eviction
Courtney Love may be battling eviction from her New York townhouse, but she remains proud of the feminine decorating she brought to it. This week the rocker took the women’s lifestyle website xoJane (for which she is a contributing editor) on a tour of her West Village digs, which features unusual attributes including a Buddhist prayer center, artwork by Gretchen Ryan and Damien Hirst and a globe belonging to late husband Kurt Cobain. See the slideshow here.
Love’s building owner, Donna Lyon, made headlines recently by claiming the Hole singer owes $54,000 in back rent and that she redecorated the interior without permission. Love disputed this, claiming she was allowed to paint the walls. (She was not, however, permitted to start a fire in the residence, as she did this summer.)
Lyon has requested that Love restore the original interior by February, when the lease expires. The singer seems attached to the townhouse, though; she tells xoJane of her home, “Listen, there’s no male energy here.”
