Katy Perry Leads MTV Video Music Award Nominations
With nine, Katy Perry leads this year’s MTV Video Music Award nominations, the network announced tonight, while Adele and Kanye West have earned seven each. Perry’s nominations include Video of the Year and Best Female Video for “Firework,” Best Pop Video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” and Best Collaboration for “E.T.” with West.
Adele is up for, among others, Video of the Year and Best Female Video for “Rolling in the Deep,” while West’s nods include Best Male Video and Best Hip Hop Video for “All of the Lights.” The other Video of the Year nominees are Bruno Mars for “Grenade,” the Beastie Boys for “Make Some Noise” and — in the show’s most potentially controversial nomination – Odd Future member Tyler, the Creator’s “Yonkers.”
The nominees for Best New Artist are Foster the People; Wiz Khalifa; Tyler, the Creator; Big Sean; and Kreayshawn.
The show will be broadcast on MTV on Sunday, August 28th at 9 p.m. Viewers can vote online for nominees at vma.mtv.com. A full list of nominees is below.
