Listen to the Unreleased Rolling Stones Song ‘No Spare Parts’
The Rolling Stones have released the first track from their upcoming Some Girls box set. “No Spare Parts” has been bootlegged for years, but this version appears to be have been punched up with new vocals by Mick Jagger – and possibly some additional guitar work by Keith Richards and Ron Wood. They recorded a lot of material for Some Girls, so this is probably the first of many tracks from the session to see the light of day. While “No Spare Parts” lacks the instant hooks of “Beast of Burden” or “Miss You,” it’s a nice country-tinged number that probably would have made the cut for most recent Stones albums. In the late 1970s, however, the band was churning out some of the best songs of their career, and “No Spare Parts” just didn’t measure up.
The new edition of Some Girls hits stores on November 21st. They seem to be re-doing one album a year at this point. Future candidates probably include Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Beggars Banquet.
