Trial of Michael Jackson’s Doctor Begins
The trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician accused of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, began today in Los Angeles after a series of delays. Opening statements began earlier this morning with an hour-long address from Deputy District Attorney David Walgreen. “Michael Jackson literally put his life in the hands of Conrad Murray,” Walgreen told jurors. “That misplaced trust cost Michael Jackson his life.”

Walgreen later showed results of toxicology tests and images of Jackson’s corpse to support the prosecution’s argument that Murray was responsible for providing the singer with an overdose of the surgical anesthetic Propofol.

As can be expected, the courtroom and area around the courthouse were swarmed with the singer’s most dedicated fans, including several wearing custom-made Jackson apparel. This moved court officials to warn trial watchers against wearing clothing that demonstrates support for either side in the case.
