Tinie Tempah Buys ‘Back to the Future’ Sneakers for $37K
British rapper Tinie Tempah has reportedly paid $37,500 in a charity auction for a pair of limited edition 2011 Nike Mag sneakers. The shoes, which are based on a design worn by Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II, have been produced in a run of 1500 pairs and are being sold 150 pairs at a time on eBay’s Fashion Vault site.
Tempah, an avid sneaker collector, bought his pair in a live charity event in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Proceeds of the auction will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which raises money for Parkinson’s Disease research.
