‘Book of Mormon’ Leads Tony Awards Nominations
The Book of Mormon, the new musical comedy by South Park masterminds Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has been nominated for 14 awards. The show has been nominated in most top categories, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction, Best Choreography and Best Actor in a Musical. The Book of Mormon, which Rolling Stone‘s Peter Travers declared “the new gold standard for rowdy fun on Broadway” is the story of Mormon missionaries in Africa. It is Parker and Stone’s first stage musical, though they had already worked in the musical format for their hit movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
