Choose Rolling Stone’s Cover: The Sheepdogs vs. Lelia Broussard. Vote Now
Even though the Battle of Bonnaroo is just around the corner on June 11th, there’s still plenty of time to get to know the bands and vote for your favorite before the final round of the contest officially closes on July 1st. You can check out videos, free downloads and interviews, and watch the videos below, in which both acts reflect on their early days and how where they came from has influenced the music they make today.
“The best thing is that for the longest time in Saskatoon, people would be like ‘So, how’s the band?’ and we’d be like ‘Oh, we’ve been touring,’ or whatever,” says Sheepdogs bassist Leot Hanson. “Now it’s like ‘I’m in Rolling Stone, that’s what I’m doing!”
“I remember when I first came here, I felt like ‘Oh, there’s other people like me,'” Broussard says, reflecting on her move to Manhattan as a teenager. “When I came here, I felt like I belonged somewhere because there’s all these crazy people doing crazy stuff.”
