Listen: Radiohead’s Record Store Day Songs Leak
A Radiohead fan who has obtained an early copy of their Record Store Day single has shared the audio for the unreleased tracks in a pair of YouTube clips that hit the internet yesterday. The sound quality in the videos – which were recorded by a camera phone in a room where the music was being played on a turntable – leaves a lot to be desired, but it’s good enough to get a sense of what the songs are like.
“Supercollider,” a piano-based tune that the band had previewed in concert back in 2008, has been stretched out into a nearly seven-minute atmospheric ballad. “The Butcher,” a previously unknown track, is an eerie number anchored by a busy tribal drum pattern and what sounds like an unsteady electronic bass pulse. According to guitarist Ed O’Brien, these songs are the only outtakes from the sessions for the band’s latest album The King of Limbs.
You can listen to both songs in the YouTube clips below.
