The fast-rising funny man and recent Saturday Night Live host was given a sobriety test, but failed and was booked for a misdemeanor DUI charge. According to Jacobs, Hart was driving unpredictably at 90 mph when he nearly hit the tanker. He was released that afternoon after paying a $5,000 bond, and a female passenger in his car went home in a taxi.
Hart acknowledged the incident on Twitter, where he took responsibility for his actions. “On some real shit . . . drinking and driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid shit this!” he wrote. “This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter and last night I wasn’t . . . everything happens for a reason.”
