Against Me! Bassist Andrew Seward Quits Band
Against Me! bassist Andrew Seward has left the Florida punk band on amicable terms, according to a post on the group’s website. “No drama here,” Seward wrote. “I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura [Jane Grace] and James [Bowman]. The last 10 years ruled!”
The lineup change comes soon after Against Me! were forced to pull out of a tour with Bad Religion because they weren’t able to secure a drummer for the trek, as Exclaim! points out. Seward was not an original member of Against Me!, but has been playing with the group since 2002, first appearing on the band’s 2003 LP Eternal Cowboy.
Against Me! Singer Laura Jane Grace Talks About Her First Year as a Woman
While Grace noted the peculiarity of carrying on as Against Me! now that the lineup has been reduced to just her and fellow guitarist Bowman, she added, “If I didn’t feel like I had something that I really needed to say with the album we’ve been working on for the past year then I’d humbly hang the hat and move on.”
“Andrew’s been a solid partner,” she continued. “Some of the best sleep I’ve ever gotten has been in the back of a 15-passenger van with him behind the wheel. He’s got a steady hand and has always been someone I’ve trusted. The definition of a good friend. I wish him all the best in his journey.”
