Sharon Osbourne ‘Devastated’ by Ozzy Osbourne’s Relapse
Sharon Osbourne is “devastated” by her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s relapse into drinking and taking drugs over the past year and a half. “Everybody knows he’s been struggling with this his entire life and I never knew that he was using prescription drugs,” Sharon Osbourne said on The Talk yesterday, as reported by US Weekly. “I knew he was drinking occasionally, but I didn’t realize to what extend. It’s our business – we’re dealing with it. We’re not getting divorced. However, am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes, I am – I’m devastated right now.”
Ozzy Osbourne: ‘I Have Been Drinking and Taking Drugs’ for 18 Months
The Black Sabbath singer revealed last week that he had slipped back into drug and alcohol use, but said at the time that he had been 44 days sober. The 64-year-old apologized for his “insane behavior” and denied rumors that he and Sharon Osbourne were getting divorced.
Sharon Osbourne confirmed that her husband had been struggling, and said his behavior had affected the family. “He’s been using alcohol and prescription drugs for the last year and a half . . . and he has been in a very dark place. That’s true,” she said. “It’s a disease that not only hurts the person that has the disease but it hurts the family. . . . It hurts people that love you and we’re dealing with it.”
Sharon Osbourne said she thinks the situation will bring the family closer together. “We’ve dealt with worse and we will deal with it and this too shall pass,” she said. “Otherwise my husband will be taken to the hospital to get my foot removed from his ass.”
Black Sabbath are getting ready for the June 11th release of their new album 13, their first release with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals since 1978’s Never Say Die! They’ll premiere the new song “End of the Beginning” on the May 15th season finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and they’ve set four North American shows for this summer.
