‘Community’ Cast Transformed Into Puppets in Upcoming Episode
The idea of acting out trauma with puppets has turned into an entire episode of Community, which will feature the core cast members in puppet form as the study group works through the aftermath of an awkward outing in the woods.
The cast and producers brought the puppets out on stage last night at the Paley Fest television festival in L.A., according to The Hollywood Reporter. The puppet episode will also feature a previously announced guest appearance by Seinfeld alumnus Jason Alexander, who plays a friendly mountain man. The episode, “Intro to Felt Surrogacy,” will air in April.

The producers and cast also addressed the possibility of extending the show to a fifth season. Star Joel McHale, who plays Jeff, said that a renewal is the kind of news “no one ever lets you know . . . in advance.” Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley, said there’s plenty to be proud of even if Community doesn’t get a fifth season. “The show has made it four years, and that’s great thing,” she said.
The rest of the current season will also introduce Jeff’s father (James Brolin), explain the origins of the study group and feature an episode written by Jim Rash, who plays Dean Pelton and also won an Oscar for screenwriting for The Descendants.
