‘Game of Thrones’ Creator Will Make Cameo in Season Three
Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin will appear onscreen in the third season of the fantasy epic, which returns to HBO March 31st. “You will see him,” executive producer David Benioff told Deadline Hollywood, though he wouldn’t say when or in what role Martin would appear.
Martin and Benioff appeared last night at an “Evening with Game of Thrones” event put on by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, where co-executive producer D.B. Weiss said that Martin had made a cameo in the pilot of the show that ended up getting cut when “90 percent of the pilot was re-shot.”
HBO Preps ‘Game of Thrones’ Season Three With Recap Special
Fans of the Song of Ice and Fire books the series is based on have an idea what happens in Season Three, but Martin offered a vague hint what direction the story will go. “There’ll be a few people on the throne before it’s over,” he said, when asked who will end up victorious by the end of the series.
There’s been no order yet for a fourth season of the show. Martin has written five books so far, and he’s working on a sixth, The Winds of Winter. The author joked that he’s worried that he’s not writing the novels quickly enough to keep up with the TV series. “They’re moving faster than I am,” he said.
