Jim Carrey Rails Fox News for ‘Slander’ Over Anti-Gun Video
Jim Carrey has struck back at Fox News, who led a wave of backlash against the comedian after he appeared as Charlton Heston in a Funny or Die video that poked fun at gun culture.
Calling the coverage “slander” – and referring to the news organization as “Fux News” – Carrey said that it wouldn’t even be worth his time to take the news organization to court, especially as it would just “gain them far too much attention, which is all they really care about.”

“I’ll just say this,” wrote Carrey. “In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.”
Carrey ended his note by expressing hope that people will eventually give up on Fox and it’ll be remembered “as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure.” He closed, “I wish them all the luck that accompanies such malevolence.”
Carrey’s Funny or Die clip prompted negative reactions beyond Fox coverage; as the Hollywood Reporter points out, several people began selling Carrey memorabilia on eBay, noting that they would use the proceeds to buy guns.
