Miranda Lambert Leads 2014 CMA Awards Nominations
Once again, Miranda Lambert leads the pack of CMA Awards nominees. With nine nods this year, the “Automatic” singer ties her own record for the most of any female artist in the 48 year history of the awards. She also had nine nominations back in 2010, which is just one shy of tying Alan Jackson’s overall record of 10 nominations, which he set in 2002.
Darius Rucker and Vocal Group of the Year nominees Little Big Town announced five categories today on ABC’s Good Morning America, followed by the full reveal at a press conference after the broadcast. (See the list of 2014 CMA Awards nominees below.) After Lambert, Dierks Bentley was the second most mentioned artist of the morning, as he leads the guys with five nominations.
Up for the CMA’s top honor, Entertainer of the Year, are Lambert, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and last year’s winner, George Strait. (This is the 83rd CMA nomination in Strait’s incomparable career.) Album of the Year nods go to the former three, along with Bentley and Eric Church.
The 48th Annual CMA Awards will be hosted by Brad Paisley and mama-to-be Carrie Underwood, and will air live on November 5th at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
