Hear Nicki Minaj’s Bootylicious Sir Mix-a-Lot Riff ‘Anaconda’
The influence of Sir Mix-a-Lot‘s hardly chivalrous ode to the posterior, 1992’s “Baby Got Back,” radiates throughout every minute of Nicki Minaj‘s new song, “Anaconda,” which she posted to Facebook with cover art that would make the good Sir proud. And the song itself stays true to the theme of the original. “He love this fat ass,” she says laughing maniacally at one point. “This one is for my bitches with a fat ass in the fucking club…. Fuck those skinny bitches in the club.”
The title, of course, borrows from the hip-hop knight’s sweetly serene lyric, “My anaconda don’t want none unless you’ve got buns, hon,” and Minaj’s song, which may or may not appear on her upcoming record, The Pink Print, repeats the Mix-a-Lot track’s infamous valley girl intro – “Oh, my gosh, look at her butt!” – as the female rapper brags about her, ahem, assets and having sex with a guy while “high as hell” on half a pill.

Minaj has yet to announce a release date for the record, but she has been teasing it with a wide array of songs, ranging from the ballad “Pills N Potions,” the video for which finds her psychedelically beheading the Game, to blasting letches in her song “Lookin’ Ass Nigga” lyrically and, in the case of the song’s video, literally. During her acceptance speech earlier this year at the BET Awards, where she took home the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist trophy, she promised the audience that The Pink Print would indeed come out sometime this year.
