Clinton Camp Touts Fundraising, Cries Poverty
The Clinton website right now is touting the $10 million it has raised since Super Tuesday.
And yet, in spinning Obama’s blowouts in Louisiana, Washington, and Nebraska, the campaign implied that it was all about the lack of Benjamins:
The Obama campaign has dramatically outspent our campaign in these three states, saturating the airwaves with 30 and 60 second ads. The Obama campaign has spent $300,000 more in Louisiana on television ads, $190,000 more in Nebraska and $175,000 more in Washington.
Seriously? That’s $665,000. A pittance to go after 161 delegates (including the Virgin Islands). That’s more than Ohio’s got. More than Pennsylvania.
How costly was the decision not to more seriously contest these states?
According to a memo put out by Obama’s folks, the price was dear, indeed:
[Obama’s] net gain of 45 delegates represent more than the 42 delegate net gain Senator Clinton earned in the states of Massachusetts, New Jersey, Tennessee and Arizona — combined.
