Play Nice: Handheld Portable Super Nintendo Coming This Summer
A portable Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game machine has been the dream of hackers, software pirates and wide-eyed preteens since the console first debuted in 1991. Now, 20 years later, it’ll soon be a reality courtesy of Hyperkin’s awkwardly named Supaboy, a portable handheld Super Nintendo gaming system coming this summer.
According to ComputerandVideoGames.com, the 11.2oz device will play both original American and Japanese Super Nintendo cartridges on its 3.5-inch color LCD screen, though users can also play on their TVs using an A/V stereo output. A rechargeable battery should provide roughly five-and-a-half hours of battery life, with classic directional pad controls built into the device. Users will also enjoy the option to connect two classic Super Nintendo controllers for instant old-school multiplayer gaming thrills.
Retailing for $79.99, it looks to be a small price to pay for a one-way trip back to your happy-go-lucky adolescence.
