Far East Movement Mixes New Digital Graffiti Video
Algoriddim, the company behind the vjay video-mixing app, partnered with Far East Movement to create a new music video for “Turn Up the Love.” Shot in downtown Los Angeles, the video has the hip-hop crew projecting text and other visuals on buildings as they cruise around the city in a limo.
“Far East Movement’s vision to paint Los Angeles with digital video graffiti is exactly why we created vjay – to enhance music fans’ experience worldwide,” Algoriddim CEO Karim Morsey tells Rolling Stone. “We are thrilled to be part of such a kick-ass, creative project.”
Algoriddim’s vjay iPad app allows users to edit and mash together music videos purchased on the iTunes Store and display the mixes directly to a TV. The app can also use the iPad’s built-in camera to record and edit live videos by adding transitions, visual effects and songs from the iTunes library. In the “Turn Up the Love” video, members of Far East Movement are shown playing around with these features.
“It’s dope to be able to integrate new technology into music,” the group’s Kev Nish said in a statement.
The iPad app comes equipped with looping tools and Algoriddim’s proprietary real-time VideoScratch technology. The company’s previously released djay app provides a similar experience for mixing songs.
The vjay app is available on the iTunes Store for $10.
