Google+ iPhone App Arrives, Offers Social Network to Go
New social network Google+ has launched its official iOS app, which has already rocketed to the top of the App Store’s top free apps list. Joining the platform’s existing Android app, the downloadable application aims to help grow the service’s fan base, now allegedly sitting at upwards of 18 million users.
As with its Android counterpart, the free iPhone app lets you share status updates, photos and videos with private groups of users known as social circles, as well as receive similar incoming streams. Using it, you can keep up with friends’ posts, engage in chat using huddle features and publish snapshots of your everyday life to the Internet for relatives, coworkers and BFFs to enjoy.
A must-have accessory for any social network, downloadable apps allowing users to check in on friends’ activity virtually anytime, anywhere have become an increasingly large driver of growth for rival services such as Facebook.
“Share just the right stuff, with just the right circles,” said Google senior vice president Vic Gundotra, summing up the launch simply in a recent post.
