Now on Shelves: Lana Del Rey’s Mulberry Handbags
The wait is over: “The Del Rey,” songbird Lana’s first signature handbag with Mulberry, has hit shelves worldwide. We stole our first glimpse at the purse back in February when we, alongside the singer herself, attended Mulberry’s nature-loving London Fashion Week show. As Del Rey serenaded her editorial guests at a dinner that evening, news of her collaboration with the brand broke to the public. Since then, hype for the item has built to a fever pitch – so much so that Mulberry even released a few of the bags early in very select boutiques last month. Now, the rest of the luxury shopping public gets to take part in the Del Rey experience.
Priced at $1,250 (a steep number for fans, but standard rates for Mulberry), the Del Rey mimics the brand’s iconic Bayswater bag and comes in four shades: Black Forest Soft Matte Leather (a muted red), Black Soft Spongy Leather, Deer Brown Grainy Print Leather and Petrol Veg Tanned Lambskin (robin’s egg blue). Personally, we think the lovely blue model stands out the most and may just be among our favorite new ladylike accessories for spring.
Naturally, Del Rey has her own custom-made, virginal white version of the bag, which she’s held in endless paparazzi shots lately. No word if the Mulberry x Del Rey collaboration will extend beyond one season but, for now, we’re enjoying this particular designer/musical muse relationship more than most.
