Jambox Wireless Speakers Upgrade to 3D
Jawbone has added 3D audio features to its popular Jambox wireless speakers via a free downloadable LiveAudio technology upgrade, downloadable now, which makes sonic recordings sound as if they’re coming from multiple angles.
Similar to the three-dimensional effects produced by certain laptops and headphones, the mobile speaker aims to create a sense of proximity for listeners, who can tune in via laptops, tablets or smartphone streaming audio solutions. Making it feel as if instruments, vocals or whizzing bullets are coming from different directions, newfound compatibility with so-called “binaural recordings” accordingly adds a greater sense of spatial relation.
Creating the impression that guitars and tambourines are placed at different stations around a room, or explosions and gunshots are happening all around in supporting video games, compatible tracks do exhibit greater depth. But whether or not these novelty features, targeted at audiophiles and everyday listeners alike, will pique your interest remains a personal preference, as nuances run the gamut between subtle and striking depending on the audio source.
Available at zero cost though, there’s no harm in treating your ears to a sample taste test should the mood strike.
