Rob Lowe Will Be Back on ‘Parks and Rec’
In an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman scheduled to air tonight, Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe shares bittersweet feelings about his departure from the show. “I was originally on for I think six episodes,” says the actor. “That turned into 88.” As the clip unfolds, Lowe, 49, spends some time joking with the host, an Indiana native. “And you’re actually from Pawnee, Indiana, are you not?” he quips. But the conversation turns serious at 1:17, when Letterman says, “neither of you,” meaning Lowe and his on-screen partner Rashida Jones, “are coming back to the show?” His response – “I’ll always come back, ’cause I love doing that show so much” – serves as the lone bright spot for devoted fans of NBC’s longrunning mockumentary.

This August, it was announcement that both Lowe and Jones would be leaving the program midway through its sixth season. “We’re shooting that episode in two weeks,” he tells Letterman. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, his co-star Adam Scott addressed their departure, saying, “it’s going to be really sad.” In related Parks news, NBC said last week that the show was going on hiatus until next year. New episodes will not air until Thursday, November 14th, and its Halloween installment (which you can preview here) will air two weeks late. The program’s election-night-themed chapter will also run a week late.
