Exclusive Video: Warren Haynes Performs Track From Old-School Soul Album ‘Man In Motion’
Warren Haynes devotes so much of his time to the Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule that he’s recorded very few solo albums. He recently squeezed in sessions for his new disc Man In Motion (due out May 10th) at Willie Nelson‘s studio in Austin, Texas. The disc has an old-school soul and R&B vibe. “James Brown was my first musical hero,” says Haynes. “Growing up in North Carolina, I was completely engrossed in soul music.”

Haynes assembled a killer band for the collection, including Ivan Neville on keyboards, Meters bassist George Porter and Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan. Check out the above video to see a live performance of “Sick of My Shadow” cut last December at Haynes’ Christmas Jam in Asheville, North Carolina.
