New ‘Twin Peaks’ Box Set to Include 90 Minutes of Unseen Footage
A new Blu-ray Twin Peaks box set, Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery, will contain the entire TV series, as well as its 1992 movie prequel, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. It will also include nearly 90 minutes of previously unseen deleted scenes and alternate takes from the movie, which explained the dark and supernatural events leading to the death of high school homecoming queen Laura Palmer, whose murder is the focal point of the TV show. Director David Lynch, Twin Peaks’ creator, has personally supervised the box set’s production. Watch a preview for the box set, which will come out July 29th, on Entertainment Weekly‘s site.
‘Twin Peaks’ and TV’s 16 Most Heart-stopping Moments
“During the last days in the life of Laura Palmer many things happened, which have never been seen before,” Lynch said in a statement. “They’re here now alongside the new transfer of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks, the television series.”
Lynch recently made an appearance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he talked about his love of one of Twin Peaks’ main settings: the diner. “There’s a beautiful thing about a diner,” he said. “Your mind can go into dark places, but you can always return to the warmth and comfort of a well-lit diner. It’s a nice place to think.”
He also discussed the music he loves at the event, offering musings on Jimi Hendrix and Kanye West, among others, but it was in an interview with Rolling Stone where he discussed his love of another one of his “all-time” favorite bands: ZZ Top. “When I first heard them, I said, ‘These people have got the power, and the roots are there,'” he said. “But they just kick butt.” And his favorite ZZ Top song? “Sharp Dressed Man.”
