MusicBunk Instantly Shares Playlists
Social networking app MusicBunk wants to help users find friends who share similar tastes in music. A free download for iOS and Android devices, the application lets fans see which songs and playlists their friends are listening to and tune in, plus provide comments or connect with new acquaintances.
Using the program, users can quickly browse others’ digital music collections and access both songs and playlists, even if they’re not currently contained on individual computers or mobile devices. Besides letting casual observers compare notes in the form of comments or Facebook and Twitter posts, it also allows viewers to check which tunes pals have recently downloaded. Perhaps its most compelling feature is the ability to quickly parse contacts, add existing friends and, in a unique turn, meet new people with similar interests in music.
Once befriended, buddies can access each others’ collections of albums and tracks, enjoy 30-second samples of tunes and, potentially, discover new artists. MusicBunk is free, though some users may become frustrated with the slow loading time of tunes, not to mention the potential discomfort of automatically syncing with strangers. The app’s stream of ongoing updates may prove annoying, too. However, fans of social media services will undoubtedly see it as a convenient way to connect with newfound friends or crushes and quickly spread their love of specific bands and records. The ability to play matchmaker also proves a novel element, allowing users to reach out and influence others’ daily diet of tunes in a pleasingly passive manner – and perhaps find some surprising insight into friends’ guilty pleasures along the way.
