Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Croon Off-Key Duet
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler make a stellar comedic duo but, as this new Golden Globes promo proves, their musical harmony is less than impressive. In this 30-second clip, the Saturday Night Live veterans tease their upcoming hosting gig with some adorably out-of-tune vocalizing.
‘Breaking Bad”s Aaron Paul Helps Tina Fey Open New Season of ‘SNL’
“Tina and I are back to host the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards,” says Poehler as she sits behind a grand piano, her partner standing at her side. Fey suggests they offer “a preview of the opening song (they) wrote” for the occasion, but they never quite sync with each other, smiling awkwardly at the camera as they struggle to find the same root note. (They never do, though they accidentally lock in on a shaky harmony at the end.)
The clip promises that the Golden Globes will be the “party of the year” in 2014. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the duo’s first co-hosting gig earlier this year earned 19.7 million total viewers, the highest ratings for the ceremony in six years. After that success, NBC signed Fey and Poehler to a two-year hosting deal.
The Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday, January 12th on NBC. In related news, NBC has ordered 13 episodes of a new sitcom produced by Fey and 30 Rock writer Robert Carlock and starring Ellie Kemper from The Office.
