Limited Edition Beastie Boys Converse Sneakers Feature Never-Before-Seen Images of the Group
Through their iconic, wise-cracking videos and gritty photo spreads, pioneering NYC rap trio Beastie Boys made an indelible impression on urban street style in the 80s. Now, you can own a bit of their swagger through a limited edition Converse sneaker campaign on eBay. The shoes feature tastefully rendered vignettes from never-before-seen photos snapped on the group’s 1986 Licensed to Ill Tour, shot by Sunny Bak. The moments the shoes illustrate capture classic, cheeky Beastie behavior: MCA atop the Paladium marquee on one foot; Ad-Rock and Mike D on a bacchanalic spree in another.
Slated to sell for $200, 10% of each purchase will benefit Prop 8 Films, who create “socially conscious” documentary movies. The organization’s first project is a documentary focusing on the issues of Proposition 8 and same-sex marriage around the country.
