‘The Walking Dead’ Season Four Teaser Promises Explosions, Snakes
In just over two weeks, The Walking Dead will rise again for the second half of its fourth season. But in geek time, two weeks might as well be a decade, so AMC has offered an in-depth, four-minute teaser as an appetizer.
Nine ‘Walking Dead’ Villains We’re Dying to See
The last time we saw the Walking Dead crew, in the December mid-season finale, the prison’s inhabitants were slain by the evil Governor, leaving Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his followers to fend for themselves. This new teaser offers a revealing glimpse at what comes next – including tons of explosions, crying, zombie slaughtering and Daryl (Norman Reedus) making friends with a snake.
“Coming out of the first half of this season, seeing the prison fall, not really knowing who’s where and if some of these characters even survive or not, that’s really exciting,” says executive producer Robert Kirman in the clip, commenting on the half-season’s main arc. Meanwhile, executive producer Dave Alpert notes that the overall theme will be “get(ting) everybody back together” with the characters traveling their own disparate paths.
“A theme of the show over and over again is ‘whenever you create a home, it will not last long,” says executive producer Denise Huth. “It will always change, and you will always suffer more loss, and what will you do?”
For Rick, that question is particularly foreboding. Lincoln describes his character as “psychologically bereft” and “a man who’s very, very scared.” Overall, he says, the show is “moving. . . into a much deeper and darker and more grown-up territory.”
The Walking Dead will return on February 9th at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
