‘American Idiot’ to Close on Broadway
American Idiot, the musical based on Green Day's blockbuster hit album of the same name, will end its run on Broadway on April 24th after 448 performances including previews. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will reprise his role as St. Jimmy for the final three weeks of shows. Armstrong's involvement has been essential to the show's success – ticket sales for the musical dropped drastically last week after he completed a second stint in the cast.

Other music celebrities, such as Melissa Etheridge, AFI singer Davey Havok and American Idol contestant Justin Guarini, have joined the show, but none had the drawing power of Armstrong.

This will not be the end for the Tony Award-winning show. Though no specific details have been announced, American Idiot is set to go on the road later this year.
