Watch: The Band Perry Performing Live At ‘Rolling Stone’
The Band Perry is a trio of siblings whose sound reflects the country and rock & roll they were raised on — the Rolling Stones and Loretta Lynn, in particular.
The three Perrys — Kimberly, guitarist Neil and bassist Reid — played in separate bands while they were growing up, but honed their soaring harmonies on old country classics at home in Mobile, Alabama, though the family later moved to Tennessee to be closer to the Nashville music business. In 2008, they were spotted by Garth Brooks’ manager, Bob Doyle, and spent months working on songs with him before signing with Republic Nashville, which released the group’s self-titled debut LP last month.
In this intimate performance at the Rolling Stone offices in New York, the group plays two songs from the album, “If I Die Young” and “Independence.”
