Diamond dave May Be Back With Van Halen
David Lee Roth was shooting his mouth off at Hollywood strip joint Crazy Girls last Friday night about his current trial marriage with Van Halen, in the works at Eddie Van Halen’s 5150 studio.
Apparently, all that talk about Warner Bros. Records telling the former hard rockers that they had to either woo back Roth or Sammy Hagar if they wanted to stay with the label is true. Though Warner Bros. had no comment, sources close to Roth corroborate his story, explaining that the reconstituted band has already recorded two new tracks and will tour under the moniker “Van Halen with David Lee Roth.”
Supplying further evidence that Roth is otherwise involved, Todd Jenson, bassist for the DLR band (Roth’s recent project) has been making the rounds at Los Angeles management firms, explaining that he’s looking for some steady work.
In other Diamond Dave news, intimates of the singer have revealed that Roth had an orthoscopic surgery on his knee on Jan. 15, after injuring it during one of the final shows of the DLR Band’s recent tour. (Eddie underwent hip replacement surgery last November).
As for the most recent former Van Halen singer, Gary Cherone, his Web site (www.garycherone.com) has posted news that Cherone will act in indie producer Tracy Glynn’s upcoming movie. He’ll also serve as the film’s executive producer, as well as collaborate with former Extreme partner Nuno Bettencourt for a song for the soundtrack.
