Perez Hilton Files Lawsuit Against Black Eyed Peas’ Road Manager
Perez Hilton promised legal action against the Black Eyed Peas’ road manager Polo Molina following the gossip blogger’s incident with Will.i.am Sunday night in Toronto, and Hilton is already seeking revenge with a lawsuit. Molina was arrested and charged with assault after allegedly punching Hilton in the face at an afterparty following the MuchMusic Awards after Perez argued with Wll.i.am and Fergie over his coverage of the band on his site. The altercation resulted in a long video statement from Hilton, multiple Twitter battles involving John Mayer and Kirstie Alley and now, a lawsuit for battery and infliction of emotional distress.
“Perez Hilton was assaulted by the Band’s road manager because he would not agree to stop writing about the Black Eyed Peas on his website Perezhiton.com. Perez Hilton files this lawsuit to protect his freedom of speech and seeks legal redress against those who have physically assaulted him because they do not like his review of their album,” Hilton’s lawyer Bryan Freedman said. “Whether you love Perez or hate him, he is entitled to his freedom of speech without fear of physical violence. This lawsuit will make the statement that violence is never the answer. His First Amendment rights will be vigorously protected.” The cost of making the statement that violence is never the answer? Roughly $25,000 in damages, according to the AP.
To make matters worse for Molina, the lawsuit also alleges that Molina used an alias (his real name is Liborio Molina) when turning himself into Toronto police, and that Molina was already on probation in California for a drunk driving conviction. Molina is due in court August 5th to face the charges stemming from the incident.
