Crow, Tweedy, the Roots to Perform at Stewart Rally
Exactly what will transpire at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert”s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear on Saturday has been a closely held secret. But the rally”s just-approved permit lays out the schedule in detail, and while there are still plenty of ‘TBD”s in it, the
the Christian Science Monitor
reports that the Roots will kick off the rally at noon with a 40-minute set. A welcome from Stewart and Colbert and readings from actor Sam Waterston (the guy from Law and Order) will be followed by Mavis Staples and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy taking 10 minutes to play something, presumably, from their joint LP, You Are Not Alone. At around 2:15, Sheryl Crow will have five minutes in the spotlight.
There are more ‘to be determined” artists on the schedule than names, so expect plenty of surprises. The rally will be streaming live on Comedy Central and its website beginning at noon.
