Bono and the Edge ‘Rise Above’ on ‘American Idol’
The cast of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark teamed up with the musical’s composers Bono and the Edge for a special performance of the song “Rise Above” on last night’s season finale of American Idol. Bono performed the tune as a duet with lead actor Reeve Carney, who delivers his parts with soaring melodrama while the U2 frontman erred on the side of soulful melancholy in the verses. Of course, a stuntman portraying Spider-Man was on hand as well, bouncing around the arena on wires and swooping in for a kiss with judge Jennifer Lopez at the end.
