“She Does My Heart Good” was one of the first songs Ron Sexsmith wrote for his new album, Forever Endeavour, which is due February 5th on Cooking Vinyl. It’s an upbeat song with a simple arrangement built around guitar and vocals, with tinges of saxophone for sonic variety. “It’s pretty much a straight-up love song about the wonderful effect another person can have on your mental state,” Sexsmith tells Rolling Stone.
Sexsmith had in mind the golden age of singer-songwriters while writing “She Does My Heart Good.” “I always loved the early Rod Stewart songs like ‘You Wear It Well’ and musically I felt like I was sort of in that territory,” Sexsmith says. “At least, that’s where I was heading.”
