Iggy Azalea Weighs in on Alleged Nicki Minaj Feud: ‘Just Let It Go’
Iggy Azalea has chimed in, via Instagram, about Nicki Minaj‘s recent BET Awards acceptance speech for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, in which she appeared to hint at a feud with the Australian rapper. While Minaj was at the mic, she said, “When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” followed by a series of smarmy gestures and the words, “No shade.” Some people have interpreted the comment as an allegation that Azalea used a ghostwriter, reportedly T.I., on her debut album The New Classic. Although Azalea did not address those rumors in her response, she did ask her fans to move on.

“I have to say the general explosion of pettiness online in the last few days is hard to ignore and honestly…lame,” she wrote. “If I had won the BET award, that would’ve been great but it wasn’t my year and I don’t mind – so you shouldn’t either. Generally speaking, I’m unbothered by anything that ‘happened’ at the BET Awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time. Anyone who wishes me well is welcome in my life, and those who don’t can’t get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I’m still not 100 percent sure even exist and don’t matter. Just let it go.”
The rapper also wrote that the statement encapsulated her current mind state and would be the only time she would address the situation. “If you squint exxxtra hard,” she wrote dryly, “you can see tiny elves having illuminati meetings between the lines in my notes app too.”
Previously, Minaj commented on the situation, claiming that “the media put words in my mouth.” The rapper, who will release her next LP The Pink Print sometime this year, also extended an olive branch to Azalea. “I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of ‘Fancy,’ publicly,” she wrote. “She should be very proud of that.”
