Rick Ross Speaks Out on Recent Shooting
After surviving a drive-by shooting last month, Rick Ross spoke out on the incident last night on the red carpet before the 55th Grammy Awards. MTV’s Sway Calloway didn’t skirt around the issue, asking the rapper if there were any new developments, but Ross kept things mum. “[There are] no suspects and we not here to speculate on any suspects,” he said. Sway then asked Ross if he had increased security, and Ross vaguely confirmed he had. “Definitely, you know. You gotta make some adjustments,” he said. “But at the same time, I’mma live my life and I’mma do what I love to do, and that’s make music.”

Ross was the apparent target of a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale on his birthday last month after receiving death threats from the Black Disciples gang. No one was injured in the incident, which caused the rapper to lose control of the Rolls Royce he was driving and crash into an apartment building.
The Black Disciples have been upset with Ross’ references to gang leader Larry Hoover in his single “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” and Ross subsequently canceled part of a tour last year after receiving threatening messages. However, Ross blamed the cancellation on a promoter who wasn’t “handling his business” and downplayed the threats. His next album, Mastermind, is expected this year.
