Sound City Players Add Los Angeles Show
The Sound City Players will live to play another day: The massive supergroup helmed by Dave Grohl and featuring rock luminaries including Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty will play a one-off show at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium on January 31st, the same night Grohl’s documentary Sound City makes its theatrical debut at the Cinerama Dome.

Grohl and company have already sold out their first gig, in Park City, Utah, to celebrate the film’s Sundance premiere. A slightly different lineup will join him in Los Angeles: Along with Nicks and Fogerty, the band will include Rick Springfield; former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic; Cheap Trick‘s Rick Nielsen; fellow Foo Fighters Chris Shiftlett, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear and Nate Mendel; Rage Against the Machine‘s Brad Wilk; Fear’s Lee Ving; Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; Alain Johannes; and Chris Goss.
Tickets for the Los Angeles gig go on sale January 16th at noon; and you can check out a full list of theaters that will be showing Sound City on January 31st for one night only, or during its entire run starting February 1st.
Sound City marks Grohl’s directorial debut, and the film tells the story of the famed Van Nuys, California, studio where artists like Nirvana, Tom Petty and Metallica recorded classic albums.
