I’m a Belieber: The 11 Greatest Superfan Communities
As long as there have been pop stars, there have been fans who have loved them. Indeed, long before Justin Bieber fans dubbed themselves The Beliebers, an equally hormonal group of fans were called Beatlemaniacs. In the 1980s Duran Duran fans were Duranies, and they swore a blood oath to love to Nick, Andy, John, Simon and Roger as long as they lived.
So here's a look at some of the most rabid fan communities from the past 20 years, starting with The Beliebers – who are quite easy to spot. Their primary activities include creating giant poster collages with photos cut from magazines, Tweeting with handles like "MrsBieber," writing Bieber's name over and over on the back of their notebooks, shrieking at the sound of his name and writing fan fiction where he dumps Selena Gomez, marries them and never gets rid of that hairstyle.
