Rave Death Raises Questions In Rural Community
The death of a 20-year-old man who attended a rave in Boulder,
Colo., last Saturday night has raised questions in the small
mountain community.
A young woman at the rave complained to security guards after
Luis McIntire allegedly fondled her. The guards
approached McIntire, escorted him to the door and asked him to
leave, whereupon he became violent and refused to cooperate,
according to Leslie Aaholm, communications
director for the Boulder police department.
Two off-duty Boulder cops then jumped in to help the guards
control McIntire. They put him in handcuffs, shook him up, and
sprayed him with pepper spray, according to MTV News.
Aaholm said that she is not sure who sprayed McIntire with the
pepper spray or even if it was a direct cause of his death. “We
won’t know what killed him until we get back the coroner’s
toxicology report – and that can take up to 2 weeks,” Aaholm
said.
McIntire’s parents are awaiting the coroner’s results as well
before they decide whether or not to sue the police.
