Oscars to Feature James Bond Tribute
Though the Oscars have typically overlooked MI6’s finest agent, this year’s Academy Awards ceremony will feature a James Bond tribute, Deadline reports. Last year’s Skyfall has become the first Bond film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide, and the film marked 50 years of James Bond movies, starting with 1962’s Dr. No.
Travers: James Bond’s Best and Worst
The Academy’s history of ignoring Bond dates back nearly as far. Through 23 films (24 including Sean Connery’s comeback in 1983’s “unofficial” Never Say Never Again), the series has only won two awards: 1964’s Goldfinger and 1965’s Thunderball both picked up wins for Best Effects. Still, Skyfall‘s Oscar stock may have gotten a serious boost from its recent Producers Guild of America nomination for Best Picture.
