Crushed Out, ‘Push Down and Twist’ – Free MP3
Artist: Crushed Out
Song: “Push Down and Twist”
Album: Want to Give (out November 6th)
“‘Push Down and Twist’ is a song about addiction and the effects it has on those who love the addict,” Crushed Out tells Rolling Stone. The song title refers to the instructions on prescription pill bottles. “Often in live-show banter we say, ‘This song is for all of us who have trouble keeping the lid on.'”
Pill bottles weren’t their only inspiration. “We also dig that the word ‘twist’ makes us think of those early rock & roll dance-craze songs – there’s a dual meaning to the title,” the band says. “Sonically, fuzz, chorus, tremolo and reverbed-out handclaps make this Bo Diddley-esque song swing, tremble and explode just right. The song to us is a high-energy, joyous rocker dealing with heavy subject matter. Like our band name, ‘Push Down and Twist’ carries the weight of love lightheartedly.”
