Rolling Stones Launch Official App
The Rolling Stones have launched their first-ever app to keep fans up to date on the band’s upcoming 50th-anniversary shows. The app features a wide array of photos and videos from throughout the band’s career, while also offering never-before-seen interviews and performances that can be unlocked or paid for.
Developed with input from Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, the app will also allow fans to vote for a favorite track to be played at one of the group’s upcoming gigs. For now, the free app is available exclusively for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
“There’ll be quite a few surprises in there for the fans; some behind the scenes footage; some old, some new stuff that very few people get to see,” Richards said in a statement. “It’s all part of a rather splendid celebration for us.”
Jagger added, “We wanted to do something a bit special and innovative.”
The app is just oen of many facets of the Stones’ massive 50th anniversary celebration: Along with upcoming shows, the group just released the greatest hits collection GRRR!, and Brett Morgen’s career-spanning documentary Crossfire Hurricane recently aired on HBO.
