Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood Are Breaking ‘Bad’ in New Video
In the video for their first-ever duet, “Somethin’ Bad,” Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood check off seemingly every sexy scenario in the music video playbook. They pose for bad girls mug shots, straddle motorcycles, dress in cat suits, dive away from explosions and pout, pout, pout.

While the storyline may be a bit murky — they play poker, rob a bank and escape in a helicopter; then why the mug shots? — the women are clearly having fun exploring their more dangerous sides. Directed by Trey Fanjoy (who also helmed Lambert’s “Automatic” and “Over You” clips, among others), “Somethin’ Bad” unfolds like a mini-movie, and is the theatrical representation of the pair’s by-now live staple. They performed the song together on the Billboard Music Awards, the CMT Music Awards and during Lambert’s fiery set at LP Field during CMA Music Festival in Nashville.
Lambert recently told Rolling Stone Country that she always hoped to sing with Underwood. “I thought, ‘It’d be great if her and I can ever collaborate,'” she said after witnessing Underwood perform “How Great Thou Art” at a TV taping in Las Vegas. “‘Somethin’ Bad’ came across and it just felt like the rock and roll edge that she and I have in some of our songs put it all into perspective…. I sent it to her and she said yes. It was that easy.”
