Watch All 14 ‘Weird Al’ Album Covers Get Illustrated in Animated Video
“Weird Al” Yankovic‘s viral video extravaganza may be over, but that doesn’t mean the celebration behind his first number one album, Mandatory Fun has to end. In honor of pop’s top parodist, the folks at whiteboard video animation company TruScribe have created a video that illustrates the covers of all 14 “Weird Al” LPs. As the ridiculous artwork for Polka Party!, Alapalooza, Bad Hair Day, Alpocalypse and more comes to life, the clip boasts a soundtrack comprising some of the singer’s most well known parodies, including “Eat It,” “Amish Paradise” and “White and Nerdy.”

TruScribe was also behind the video for “Mission Statement,” a pastiche of Crosby, Stills & Nash that pokes fun at corporate jargon, and one of the eight videos released to promote Mandatory Fun. Only “Weird Al” could make terms like “We must all efficiently operationalize our strategies” and “holistically administrate exceptional synergy” sound so beautiful.
“Mission Statement” capped off Yankovic’s remarkable eight-video run, which began with his Pharrell spoof “Tacky,” and included parodies of Iggy Azalea (“Handy”), Lorde (“Foils”) and Robin Thicke (“Word Crimes”). He also lampooned fight songs on “Sports Song,” used Southern Culture on the Skids’ “Camel Walk” as inspiration for poking fun at humblebraggers on “Lame Claim to Fame” and even sent up one of his favorite artists, the Pixies, on “First World Problems.”
While the parodist will be taking the rest of the year off, he told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that he’s planning for a big tour behind Mandatory Fun in 2015: “[W]e’re going back on the road with a vengeance for the Mandatory Tour. Touring is exhausting for me. We do five or six cities a week because we’re paying for the bus and everyone’s salaries. I live in the back of the bus and physically save up my energy for the show. The rest of the band and crew has hotel rooms, but I just live in the back of the bus and watch satellite TV and surf online.”
