Gross ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ Trailer Premieres on ‘Tonight Show’
The Dumb and Dumber To trailer contains all the grossness that fans of the original 1994 movie would expect: a catheter being yanked out, a cat’s butt being flaunted, an old lady duping Jim Carrey into fingering her (with an unexpected side effect when done). It begins with a scene in which Jeff Daniels’ character is visiting Carrey, who has been in a paralytic state since the first movie, but quickly reestablishes the Farrelly brothers’ goofy directorial gift for surprise. By the end of the trailer, which premiered on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night, the two actors seem irrevocably joined together by a bond of mutual stupidity. The movie is due out November 14th.

They demonstrated that bond, and even brought Fallon in on the dumb fun, in a bit on The Tonight Show in which the host “recalled” working with the pair on a Canadian soap opera, Jacob’s Patience. Unfortunately, Carrey and Daniels were difficult to work with, since both actors refused to act with their real arms. A “clip” from the series comes off a bit like the big-butted Widettes family skit from Saturday Night Live, but shows that the two actors and Fallon can still commit to mindless silliness.
Dumb and Dumber To has been in the works since mid-2013, when Daniels gave Fallon a thumbs up and wincing smile during a question about the sequel in an interview. After production began on the movie, Daniels swore it would live up to the stomach-churning standards of the original. “We’re going to do things in Dumb and Dumber To that make the [original] toilet scene look lame – pales in comparison,” he said at the time. “I can’t divulge what [the new scenes are], just that they’ve topped it.”
