Cee Lo Developing Sitcom for NBC
Cee Lo’s Emerald Productions has signed a first-look deal with NBC to develop and produce new scripted and unscripted projects, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The singer may also star in one show that NBC is considering: a multi-camera, semi-autobiographical scripted comedy based on his experiences juggling his music career with his family life. Ali Leroi (Everybody Hates Chris) is set to write the program, and Cee Lo is executive producing with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson, Primary Wave TV’s Andrew Jameson and Primary Wave Music CEO Larry Mestel. Cee Lo is also Chief Creative Officer for Primary Wave Music.
Next week, Cee Lo will begin his third season as a coach on The Voice. He also appeared in Whitney Houston’s last film, Sparkle, and has a voice role in the upcoming animated film Hotel Transylvania. Cee Lo and Jameson teamed up last year for the TV special Cee Lo Takes the U.K.: Christmas With All the Goodies, and the singer is also producing a Vegas show inspired by Liberace, titled Loberace, that is set to premiere next February at Planet Hollywood.
