Willie Nelson Let Off Easy for Drug Charge
Willie Nelson has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia and has agreed to pay a $500 fine, along with a court cost charge of $280. The case is expected to be settled within two weeks and will be dismissed entirely if Nelson stays out of trouble for 30 days. Nelson was busted for marijuana possession in Hudspeth County, Texas in November when a Border Patrol officer smelled pot smoke inside the country legend’s tour bus at a checkpoint on Interstate 10.

“I had been in California hanging out for a while and my bus had come out to pick me up because we had a couple of tour dates to do and I had forgotten that there was this little bag of weed on the bus that had been in the back there for weeks when I had been gone,” Nelson told Rolling Stone at the time. “Naturally when they stopped us there the dogs came on and the first thing they went to was that little bag of pot back there.”
