Beanie Charged in Shooting
Roc-a-Fella rapper Beanie Sigel turned himself in to Philadelphia
police on Thursday night and was charged with attempted murder. He
was released on bail on Saturday.
Sigel (a.k.a. Dwight Grant) is accused of shooting Terrence
Speller, 26, twice, in the foot and stomach at the Pony Tail Go-Go
Bar in West Philadelphia bar, hours after Sigel performed with
Jay-Z on the Roc the Mic Tour in Camden, New Jersey, on July 1st.
Sigel’s attorney denies his involvement in the shooting.
The rapper, who already faces assault and firearms charges in
separate cases, is set to release a new album with his State
Property collective (also featuring Freeway, Young Gunz and
others); State Property 2 is due August 5th. Since being
discovered by Jay-Z in the mid-Nineties, Sigel has also issued two
solo recordings, 1999’s The Truth and 2001’s The
Reason.
